Photography has never been more important to selling real estate than it is today. Real estate photography is not always about marketing the properties for sale. It is also about marketing yourself as an agent.
Real estate agents often have trouble obtaining leads from buyers, so what better way to get more fresh leads than amazing photos of your properties for sale! Here are some real estate photography tips for you:
- The Right Equipment
You don’t need to spend heavily for this. All you need is a good camera to take good photos and a tripod to keep your camera sturdy. When capturing photos, ensure that your camera is level with the ground to avoid the images from appearing slanted or crooked.
- The Right Lighting
Your real estate photos will hugely benefit from exterior lighting and white balance exposure especially during the day. However, if you have to take photos at night or in places with low light, you may want to use supplemental lighting, such as a portable light. One is sufficient for small rooms and closets but for large areas such as living room, dining room and kitchen, you will need to bring more portable lights.
- The Right Software
Most the photos would not require much editing to add colour, contrast and clarity. However, if you choose to edit your photos but aren’t familiar with photo-editing software like Photoshop and Illustrator, you can use less complicated software such as Paint.net, Google Picasa and Gimp. Save your photo files in organised folders so you can easily access them when necessary.
There is no right or wrong when it comes to real estate photography. In fact, there are various styles and techniques that you can use to take your photos. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect so continue practising with your smartphone camera or digital camera to capture good photos. You will eventually master the main techniques and set yourself apart from the competition.
