As a real estate agent, having your own business means getting people to approach you to learn more about you can do for them. Hosting a networking event is a great way to share your skills and expertise with them. There are many innovative things you can do to ensure your event is fun yet successful. Running networking events may not be a piece of cake but if you remember that your main purpose is to facilitate networking, you’ll be fine.
Here are 6 quick tips to help you host an effective, engaging and entertaining networking event:
- Office Space
If your office or agency has a large enough space to organize a networking event, having the occasion there will increase your business exposure.
- Minimise Distractions
Avoid dominating the event with speeches and/or presentations. Always remember that the original purpose of the networking event is to build relationships.
- Advance Planning
Make sure to plan your event at least two months in advance so you will have enough time to invite many guests and sponsors to donate door prizes, if you wish.
- Sharing is Caring
When inviting your guests, encourage them to bring information on their products and/or services to keep the conversations flowing.
- Icebreaking Activities
Conduct a short networking exercise for your guests to assist them in meeting and greeting new people. You can ask your guests to find someone in a similar line of business.
- Door Prizes and Thank-You Gifts
At the end of your event, you should spend no more than ten minutes distributing door prizes and gifts to thank your guests for attending your event.
When hosting a networking event, always remember that your primary purpose as the host is to facilitate networking. As long as you maintain your focus on that, you will be on the right track for a successful event!
