In real estate, life can get pretty stressful. On one hand, you could be selling a multi-million ringgit property and suddenly, you have a deal that failed to go through. Things can change in a blink of an eye. You spend most of your time glued to your phone waiting for updates, catching up with the real estate trends, strategizing on how to promote your business to earn the big commissions. Some of you even have families and children!

Here are 10 ways on how to reduce your stress levels so you can manage your business like the warrior you need to be:

  • Get Organised

Time management is crucial. Organise your day by keeping to-do lists and prioritising what is important can help you stay on top of your workload and keep stress at bay.

  • Learn to Say 'No'

If you cannot complete your tasks within a given time, don’t take on extra work. Practise saying ‘no’ can add to your self-confidence once you get used to saying it when necessary.

  • Do One Thing at a Time

Multi-tasking is a myth. Nothing is done well when you do many tasks at one time, mistakes are bound to happen and stress increases. Do one thing at a time and pay attention to it.

  • Take Action

Worrying and being indecisive is negative and will cause you more stress. Think positive, focus your efforts on finding solutions and take action on them.

  • Limit Your Email/Social Media/Online Time

Avoid getting stuck in information overload by limiting the time spent on checking your phone for messages, social media updates and emails.

  • Get Active and Physical

Stress increases your adrenalin levels and cortisol in your body. Exercise can help by relaxing your mind and body, make you look and feel good, and maintain your weight.

  • Eat and Drink Healthy

Poor stress management can be a significant barrier to weight loss. Manage your stress levels by sticking to a healthy diet and stay hydrated at all times.

  • Listen to the Signs

You know when you are feeling exhausted and irritable. This is the time for you to stop and take a break. Do something you love or spend some time with your loved ones.

  • Remember to Breathe

When faced with a difficult situation, don’t panic. Just close your eyes and breathe. It will help to reduce your stress levels while you calm down so you can deal with the situation.

  • Music, Laughter, Family and Friends

Remember the important things in life when things get way too stressful. Take some time out with your loved ones. Eat, laugh, listen to music and try to put it all in perspective.

 

Feeling stressed is pretty common these days. We know it’s bad for health to be stressed and bad for our looks as it causes worry lines and even excess weight. But it doesn’t always have to be that way. Start practising some of the tips above and incorporate them into your busy real estate lives and you will start to see a difference in your mood, energy levels and your interaction with your family, friends, clients and colleagues.
